I’m currently following the 3D Producer course at the College of MultiMedia in Amsterdam. The first assignment (officially labelled as number 02) was to model something with a cord, like a power-tool or the likes.
Of course the main goal was to model an industrial-design thing, which is full of smooth curves but also sharp edges and corners. And by modeling something real, we could not cut many corners. While the goal was not to achieve photo-realism, we had to try and get the shapes as accurate as possible.
I decided to model the Sixaxis controller of Sony’s Playstation 3. I don’t own a Playstation 3, but I do have a Playstation 2 and thought that there wouldn’t be much of a difference. Until I found a lot of reference images on internet. Ah well. If you want to compare my efforts with real pictures of the Sixaxis, Google is your friend.
Here are three renders of my entry.
Look out for the next assignment!
